Summary | 0013478: Remove NPC ability to recharge shields
Description | Mostly, this just makes battles really tedious. There's nothing resembling proper "timing" that the player can use in turn-based combat, so every time the enemy ship gets even the tiniest bit of shielding back, the player must waste another turn firing more energy shots at them even if just 2 or 3 quick energy bullets are all that's needed. Chances are, when in position to fire something else at the enemy again, the target has regenerated shields a tiny bit. In an overall sense, this does nothing at all for the actual challenge of the battle... it's merely really obnoxious and makes things take forever.

A regen delay would work (after taking damage) of a turn or two or three. No regen can be abused by players with more patience. |
|
On higher difficulties, that simply wouldnt work. Much of the time you cannot simply hover at all near flagships to constantly poke at them... often, you get a few shots off, but then must spend many turns avoiding shots, drawing fire in other directions, and dealing with smaller ships before you can make another run at your target. I cant see how it'd be abused anyway.... not with the fact that flagships keep spawning more and more enemies, and many battles contain alot of flagships. The longer it takes to pop them, the more attacks that come flying at you. More and more bullets and general chaos if they're left alone for a time. |
|
* Non-player ships no longer regen their shields, but they now have shields that are 3x stronger than before. ** This makes shields still something that is relevant on enemies (and let's face it, they were pretty easy to chop through before), but not something that are annoyingly coming back on and off through turns. ** Your shields still work as before. |
