DescriptionOk, a big set of suggestions and such here:

First of all, their range is WAY too big. It's possible (and very frequent) for the game to generate turret rings that literally cannot be broken through, due to the fact that if you get anywhere near it, you *will* be hit by lances, no matter what. The only way to stop them is with that one specific ability, but there's a very high chance of the player simply not having it. Considering the "tactical dodging" nature of the battles, the lances dont really make much sense. On lower difficulties it's possible to simply tank these and bum-rush the ring, but that cant be done on the higher ones.

They're also very frequent, though considering their absurd range, they'd be too much of an unbalanced problem even if there was only 1 or 2 per ring.

The best thing is likely to simply remove them... they simply stray too far from the basic concepts of the combat system and there's no skill involved in dealing with them. Right now the solution is to reload over and over until the game generates rings that are actually possible to breach.

This all goes for both types of lance turrets. Coming up with something new to replace them is likely the best. How about a turret that fires a really long string of those purple shots, in a perfectly straight line? That'd make sort of a slow-moving "wall", which changes the player's options and limits their movement, without being cheap in any way. The range could still be high with something like that, and it'd work out. They'd still be difficult, high-priority targets.

Lances on small ships likely dont need to be removed,there are ways of dealing with those since the ships actually move around, and the player can lure them out and go around them, or various other tactics.

Oh, and the lance beams arent rendering correctly, by the way.
