Description | The gigacannon being autoaimed seems like a holdover from when the game was more twitch based. I think it would much improve the fun of this weapon (and allow some amusing skillshots as well as hilarious "why did I not check behind that thing!" moments) if you could target it manually. As it is, it occasionally fires at flagships I didn't intend it to because I couldn't see which of two was actually closest, and additionally it's really hard to use in some cases when enemy flagships are far away or not present. If it could be made to fire manually (using the same style as the manual point targetting of the normal weapons, so I would hope it wouldn't be a massive amount of work to do) then you could do a lot more with it, like taking out incoming swarms of enemies. Since it only has 5 shots, I think this would be just fine. Additionally, it would be nice if the effects for it were a bit more giga. I would most prefer a gigantic glowing hot-yellow fading to reddish-orange energy wave with trailing particle effects and perhaps some fancy swirls in the immediate wake of it, but anything a bit more impressive would be good. | ||||

Unfortunately that actually would be a huge amount of work, the ability system isn't really designed for that. :/ |

Ah well. Perhaps as an expansion, along with some targetted AoE abilities? :) |

For 0.863: * Mousing over a special ability (not a normal weapon) now highlights the target(s) it will fire at. Particularly helpful for multi-target stuff like anti swarm lasers. Thanks :) |
