Summary | 0014301: Option for additional unexpected outcomes for "standard" actions.
Description | Right now, the standard actions players can take e.g. "help with local crime" seem a bit boring, as there's never any surprise. The money is slightly variable, but I think this is a good opportunity to interject some random events / quests. Examples: - Sometimes when helping fight local crime, you learn about the local crime lords and can help them out (betraying the species in exchange). - Researching technology occasionally gives you a chance to steal the fruits of the research, giving you a copy but not one to the species. - When sabotaging infrastructure, you come across a Hydral technology. It's integrated into the building - do you take the tech or destroy the building? - When mining an uncolonized moon, it turns out some pirates had established a local base to do the same thing. Do you work with them (gain more minerals and +1 pirate base established, minus influence with species), ignore them (+1 pirate base), or fight them (some minerals, no pirate base, positive influence with species). - When providing medical assistance, you accidentally spread a Hydral disease. Do you outsource research to make up for your mistake? There seems to be a lot of potential (even species-specific special events) given the great lore you've constructed here. I imagine this was already planned after kinks are worked out, but just wanted to add there is demand for it.

Just wanted to add, Crusader Kings 2 is a good source for this sort of "unexpected" events creating a player-driven story. I realize GalCiv2 also did them but I feel TLF game is, in some ways, closer to CK2. |

If done well it can increase immersion drastically. |

Yeah, it'd have to be very carefully crafted or it could interoduce more problems than interest, but if done well, it would vastly increase the depth of the "sit here and watch time pass while a number slowly rises" type missions! |
