Summary | 0014551: Get rid of all those news buttons on the right side of the screen!
Description | Talk about a nuisance. They take up part of the main screen, and they can't be organized. For the love of all that's holy and unholy, put them on a separate screen where in a spreadsheet format where they can be organized according to date, action type, and species.

I agree, there are so many research notifications it becomes a chore. Or maybe species are just researching technologies way too fast. For example, Skylaxians often research 2-3 technologies in one 10 month period when most of them (if I help them) would take several years. I think the research technology friendly action speed should be adjusted based on the planet's technology. Actually, I'll create a child issue to address that specific point. |
Exactly. If I could sort them, I could look for events very important to me, such as those involving a specific enemy or ally, or all events in a given time frame. As it is, it's a mess. ;) |
If there was a way to filter and sort them it might actually be useful, but right now I just try to keep an eye out for icons I care about without missing them. I don't need to know every time a senator blows his nose. |
Problems arise for me whenever I research. Spend a year of in-game time doing that, and you might as well spend an hour of realworld time reading the updates. I just want abilities to filter, and sort, and off the main screen, if possible. |
The "Older Notifications" button already brings up a list of events. Click on race icon to filter out other races, click on event icon to filter by that event. |
This still leaves all those buttons on the side of the screen. Changing Older Notifications to Notifications would get rid of the visual litter. Or make it optional, for the player to decide. It's also not obvious if you just look at the screen that it has embedded filters. |
Filtering might be nice - i.e. a player may choose to ignore all 'research complete' and 'destroyed outpost' notifications, immediately shunting them to "older notifications." This would leave up any notification that remains of interest. (the filtering mechanism could be similar to CK2 or EU4) |
I'd like to see them kept, but in a more console based approach where it's just a scrolling list having a set of filters (based on the current symbols) to sort/narrow. At the moment the current system is more of a chore and I end just clicking through them quickly without reading because a lot of the info is too old by the time I ember to review it. |
A solar system research history screen perhaps? Columns for each race displaying their research path along with dates. Oh wow you can already click on each race from the notification history, that didnt seem very intuitive though, guess I missed it in the tutorial. Knowing that I still think that the research log needs a little help to stand out. |
All of the sorting and filtering stuff you're talking about is already in the Older Notifications section, just FYI. The ticker going by is just for your convenience in terms of letting you know when things are happening. An option to turn that off, or certain kinds of notifications, is something we're potentially going to add. But the sorting and filtering you want is already there. |
It's not obvious, though. The ON screen looks like a fixed list with numbers, since it lacks column and row heads. (Or a popup tutorial notification telling you that clicking on a race or activity lets you filter for it--even double filtering.) In any case, I hope you do offer up an option to put all those notifications in a separate screen, with a very obvious button we can click anytime. It'll clean up the screen nicely. |

I've never had a problem with their presence on the screen, but that could be because I dont use them because the default option is fairly unintelligible, but all customization is good :) |
