Summary | 0014817: Quick Loading a Deleted Game
Description | You can delete a save game, but the quick load doesn't update, so when you hit the button, it gives a nice error screen saying "MISSING LOCALIZATION:ErrorCouldNotLoadWorldDetails(path to the save file)" which can be easily cleared and doesn't crash or lockup the game. I deleted the file through the Load Savegame screen, then upon returning, saw that the quick load was still pointing to the now deleted file. Not sure how it'd react to having the file deleted via the file system. This is a minor error since it only breaks a convenience feature and doesn't crash the game or anything. I'd classify it as a "polish" issue.

Thanks! * Fixed a missing localization issue in the error message that happens when you try to load a savegame that has been deleted. |

Ok, the localization issue is better, but could still use some layout love, the filename appends directly to the ? and could really use a few linefeeds (or at least a space). Also, the assumption that it was deleted is a little presumptous, there could be many reasons it's not being seen by the game (from moved folders, to folder permission issues, to steam synchronize issues), so a more general statement like "Save game not found." I think would be better. Adding "The game may have been deleted or moved, or perhaps the game doesn't have permission to access the containing folder." (or other helpful text) is of course completely at your discression, but ONLY mentioning deletion feels a little odd to me. Also, I've noticed that .bak versions of the save games seem to exist, adding a check for the presence of an appropriate .bak file and a prompt asking if you'd like to attempt restoiration might be a nice addition. Also, the save game is still listed as the "last save" despite now being gone. Idealy (though I realize non-criticaly) the "last save" should update to the (post deletion) most recent save, or at least clear once it noticed the file was no longer present. (More a polish issue than a functional one). Also, if all the save games are missing, it should clear itself. Just a couple of suggestions. :) Further polish issue, long save names go over the interface area and it looks a little tacky (to see what I'm talking about, save a game as "This is a long save game name" and then exit to the menu and look at the "last save:" area. As always, cheers and good luck. :) |
