Summary0001486: Crash while mutually tractor beamed units are given orders
DescriptionSo i started with blade spawners, which currently have tractor beams. The AI has tractor platforms.

So i send some blade spawners into ai space, and they get caught by a tractor platform.. they tractor each other.

I give the order for the spawners to shoot the tractor platform, and the game crashes.

Im not sure where the error for this is, no errors were created on crash (in the runtimedata folder, at least)

save uploaded... it *should* work, seems a bit finicky at times though. Seemed to happen more often if you have multiple spawners and tractors on the field

it seems this was resolved with the notes 'any unit with tractor beams is immune to tractor beams'.....

But of course, i only *think* that was the issue.

Ah, right, I hadn't realized Chris had made that change. It was the one I was thinking was necessary, too.

Basically without that immunity it gets to be really questionable as to "what exactly _should_ it be doing here?"

well.. I dont know.

My assumption would be that both ships would be effectively stationary. However, a more realistic approach would be to allow the faster ship to pull the slower ship, albeit at a slower rate.

Or, perhaps mutual tractor beams should just fizzle out, with some reversal of polarity (giving any ship with tractor beams mostly tractor immunity anyway, as long as the target can be tractored)

I dont know what is causing the actual crash, so i cant really say as to what the ideal behavior would be - if the only acceptable answer is that two ships can not tractor each other without issue, then the discussion is kinda void anyway..
