Description | One of the points of spreadshot was to "fly swat" but at it's new fire rate, the small fast ships actually fly between the vollies alot more. I do think the DPS is more appropriate though, so return the rate of fire, and reduce the damage per shot appropriately, if possible. | ||||

It kinda needs its range back too, imo, but that might just be me. Increasing the range of Mass Drive to match energy shot would be appropriate in my opinion as well. |

The rate of fire is fine (because I suggested that), but the damage is very week about 3000 damage per turn for SM,MED ships at attack energy bar 4.The purpose of spread shot is trying to clear SM ships in 1-2 turn(really depend of difficulty) .But a few game round found that I spend too much turns using spread shot clearing them . Base line: can clear SM ships in 2 turns or less when power distribution of attack is average(4) also uploaded a Normal game but its a SA mission so enemy ship is a bit stronger |

Yeah, I'm fine with the DPS, the problem is that SM ships are flying right through the shot arcs, because they are firing so infrequently/there are soo few of them. BTW, Spreadshot still did about 75% more damage against the burlust prime than my mass driver was, so didn't really fix the main issue, and just broke it more for it's intended purpose. I actually just did a mission where I switched from spreadshot to energy blaster to deal with the little ships (because the range and speed of the energy blaster were WAY more effective at hitting the little ships) and then swapped back to spreadshot to deal with the stations (because it was doing WAY more damage to the buildings, and the range didn't matter so much). I also used to use spreadshot as a defense against other mass driver shots - since they were destroyable, now it doesn't do that very well at all... This game was normal difficulty, usually with near max energy in weapon. |

Tried max combat difficulty with the Peltians. Spreadshot was nerfed too much. Returning range would be a start. |

I've now completely stopped using spreadshot, Minigun is in all ways superior. |

Idea for spreadshot: Make the pattern 360 and increase the overall dps. It becomes the "Surrounded" best gun. If all the shots are hitting, you should be doing phenominal damage, if only a few are it is garbage. I believe the current problem is that there's a kind of "cluster" of shots in the middle and they're not spaced out enough, so your "main" target is always getting hit by 3 or more shots, so spreadshot is too good as a single target weapon (which mass driver should be the best at imo). So lots of weak bullets that are spread more evenly over a bigger arc. This makes spreadshot excel at anti-swarm where it can hit lots of targets, and suck at signle target where only one line of bullets is impacting. |
