Description | Spreadshot is really hard to tune. Its DPS comes from firing so many projectiles, allowing high damage if you move in close to an enemy, but if you nerf it so that it's no longer the best close combat weapon then it loses effectiveness in its main role: control of weak, numerous ships.
So remove it and replace it with a new weapon. It fires a fast-moving projectile that explodes and has a large area of effect. It can have low DPS against big ships, but be powerful enough to destroy smaller ships in a single hit on decent weapon power. Perhaps it can even be a damage type that the small ships are weak against but big ships resist, but that's probably unnecessary given the large difference between the HP of small and big ships. |
