Summary0015245: Bonus fleet ship type: Doppelganger/Mimic (eating one enemy fleet ship at a time and copying it's attack while in it's stomach)
DescriptionHello, it's me again. Yet another idea for a ship that I'd like to share (it is less fleshed out but also a lot simpler than my previous two suggestions).

The basic idea is that this ship can swallow similar to the spire maw, but it can only hold one ship at a time (it does damage and kill the eaten ship slowly, just like the spire maw), and while it has eaten a ship it's attack becomes the attack of the absorbed ship in EVERY way.

If it absorbs a fighter mk1 it gains it's 4080/4seconds shell attack with 3200 range and 750 armor piercing, if it eats a munitions booster mk1 it gains a 3x2000/2seconds dark matter attack (but not the munitions boost), if it eats an electric shuttle it gains the full 7000 range major electric aoe attack, if it eats a parasite it gains it's reclamation attack, if it eats a vorticular cutlass it damages itself with each attack (but does not gain the self-regen of the cutlass), if it eats a vampire claw it gains vampirism and if it eats a gimmicky thing like a polarizer it gains it's gimmicky attack to the fullest (possible exception: viral shredder).

This new attack will stay only while a ship is still in it's stomach, if the ship is released (or dies from the being eaten effect) the Doppelganger/Mimic loses it's attack.

Without anything in it's stomach, it only has a barely-existant weapon (next to no damage damage with the range of it's eating-ability, just so that it properly seeks targets to eat in FRD) and is completely useless for anything other than absorbing damage. It should receive some sort of "can only attack targets not immune to swallow" modifier on the empty-stomach attack so that it'll properly go after swallowable targets instead of trying to use the useless against starships or something.


Further notes:
- It ONLY gains the special abilities and traits that are DIRECTLY tied to a ship's attacks, but not the ones tied to the ship themselves. For example it will copy a cutlasses self-damage-on-attack or a vampire claw's vampirism and a youngling nanoswarm's engine damage and paralyzation and armor damage, but not the youngling's self-attrition timer or a cutlasses self-regeneration or a munition/armor booster's support ability.
- It can only eat ships of it's own mark or lower.
- When the eating ability is ready to use and it detects a target of a higher mark than the one it has currently in it's stomach, it will release the current victim and eat the higher-mark one (so you don't get stuck with a bunch of MKIV doppelgangers/Mimics who have the attacks of MK1 fighters when there are better targets available).
- When it absorbs a suicide-unit of any kind (such as an autobomb or nanoswarm), it does not straight-up kill itself when it attacks, it just deals the full damage (16200x10 for an autobomb mk1) to itself aswell upon attacking, which it may or may not survive.




The ship would either be of medium ship cap (between 48 and 96) with pretty average stats (70-ish speed, about 200k health per mark) or it could be a very low cap ship (between 5 and 10) with extremely defensive stats (50-ish speed, about 2m health per mark). In the latter case, though, it would be offensively weak in it's current state (it'd need to absorb multiple ships at once and use all their attacks simultaneously as if they were modules, which would probably make this mechanically difficult to execute).
