Summary | 0015593: everything ai type and design hacking...
Description | in an 80 planet map with all expansions, the everything ai has 2 backup servers on most worlds. I decided to perform a little.. erm, "test" I wanted to try Hydra and Medic together. hydra backup was with eyebot, so I built my design downloader there. after the 5 minute hacking battle, it spent hacking twice and gave me both eyebot and hydra designs, leaving me sitting pretty at -88 HaP there was no super shockwave burst at the end or anything, the hack was just fine minus the whole spending 125 and getting 2 designs, one of which I don't consider useful. if in cases where we see 2 or more designs at one planet, it would be nice if we could tell which backup was tied to which design in order to enable us to shoot the design we don't want. bright side, the everything ai type really does have some nifty hacking responses with the amazing ship variety!

as design backups respawn elsewhere in the galaxy when a command station is destroyed, I expect to soon have worlds with three designs each. [EDIT]As a design backup cannot be shot, ignore the next paragraph. this is where it gets stupid. what if, using raid starships, i hunt down design backups? if I could get them to "pool" on one world and hack for an excessive number of unlocks... hrrmm... this test will take a bit of time to complete, if I can build a world into what I'd define as an "ultimate hacking target" I'll post a save with it. the primary point of concern I have with this is centered around galaxies with lower system counts. |

I agree the overall results are weird against an AI with many backup servers and/or few planets. Right now, though, there isn't an easy solution since the designs aren't tied to servers, they're tied to planets. I guess it could just give you a random one each time instead of all, but I doubt that would be better. So I'll keep this in mind for post-8.0 when I can break stuff again :) |

now I kinda want to see someone who plays fallen spire campaign as their normal method knock the ai down to a single everything ai planet left (beyond homeworld, that is) and design download that planet to watch the world end in flames and see how far negative the HaP goes! |

so, it limits to 10 design backups per planet in very small maps, but it can be boosted by blowing a few command stations up. I hacked 14 designs in the attached save, but one was my starting ship type (saboteur) In a related note, I've never before had hacking progress below -300, I expected more than expected response level 9000. in the save that gave me this whole initial idea i had expected response levels of a bit above 14k. I kinda suspect something is wrong but really don't think it's worth investigating. |
