Description | Buying Ion Cannons from the Zenith Trader cost hilarious amounts of resources, but they are comparatively easy to capture. I find them too expensive to build, but if the consensus is that the price is right, then fair enough. But their ridiculous costs make Ion Cannons (and to a limited extent also Orbital Mass Drivers and the like) extraordinarily expensive to repair. I've read forum reports where someone's resource income tanked forever and they didn't realize it was because they were repairing an Ion Cannon Mk IV or something. Suggestions: Either 1) give Ion Cannons (and maybe also Orbital Mass Drivers) Regen Time (120:00 or 240:00 or something). That would give them a tiny amount of free repair. Or 2) go to the other extreme, and make Ion Cannons immune to Repair. This could be balanced by reducing their construction costs. Or 3) combine both approaches. | ||||

That said, I _do_ find high level ion cannons too expensive. Why should the cost of an Ion Cannon of high mark be >10x that of a golem? |

mainly because you can theoretically build them via trader. That doesn't really justify it, but whatever. |

given that there is already a nerf to their reclaim of metal i would fully support giving then regen. myself i feel it should be more like regen 15:00 they are fragile in the first place and they should be able to be put back in place after battle if they were capturable in the first place. not so sure i would like many changes to omd. yes, i would like regen but with the enahnced hp it recieved it would likely need regen 120:00. that might be too muchh of a pain for a player to wittle down at times tho |

OMDs are useful. Ions cannons are not. Ion cannons, unless high level, do little to nothing, due to the AI tending to use higher level ships anyway. And then they cost more to either build or repair. OMDs kill starships with ease, or even put grievous hurt on golems, or other heavy nasties. |

Yup, ion cannons are more of a liability than a help with their incredibly high cost and fragility. The only things that threaten my defenses are multi-thousand CPAs and exogalactic attacks with lots of big ships. Ion cannons don't help with either, so why the high cost? |
