Summary | 0016201: The Litter - Pollution - Crime Spiral | ||||
Description | Chris had asked for a save game demonstrating the Litter - Pollution - Crime Spiral. I've attached a save demonstrating it. I think the underlying cause is best demonstrated by Terrariums. Each of them pump 960 trash. So if you build a couple of them in the same turns (due to getting a helipad up for example), you are going to see your trash production sky rocket. The median building produces 40-60 trash. So you go from 0 litter to 1-3k litter per turn easily. Rather than thinking it is a big deal, you ignore it or wait just a few turns to put a dump down. This delay takes too long because of the litter to crime rate. Because the litter accumulates, you don't see the increase in crime until it is too late. In the attached save, bulldoze the dump, and watch the city disintegrate in less than 10 turns due to crime. | ||||

Thanks! * The trash production values on each building have been majorly revamped, because some of them were accidentally producing waaaay more than intended. This was then causing a crime death spiral. |
