Product Version | 0.812 | ||||
Summary | 0016523: Terrain feels flat
Description | I'm pretty sure I saw something in the patch notes about removing the depth from terrain tiles. Just looking at the world in .812 it feels much flatter compared to 0.810.

I'm... not sure I follow at all. Visually there's no difference at all from the prior versions to the new versions unless you have some sort of very very unlikely glitch. If you want to post a screenshot and a note about what part of it feels flat, please let me know. In terms of the patch notes, the thing about depth was probably a note that now parts of terrain at different depths are stored in different sprite dictionaries. It's a purely technical distinction, making things run faster since we have to render stuff in waves to get depth. But visually it's identical. |

Honestly. I can't say very well. I had vague memories of the pre .811 that the terrain felt it had more depth, specifically in the jungle and temperate trees. I loaded .811 on a computer with a different monitor (both are laptops), to figure out what was up with the graphic errors. The .811 terrain looked shallow (but confounded with different laptop display). Now that I'm looking at the terrain in .812 on my regular computer, it still seems shallower, but I can't reference why. Comparison screenshots isn't being very successful because I don't keep a lot of images of trees. It might just be me. |

Well, the reason I was asking for a screenshot was in case there is some graphic anomaly on your machine, it would show up in that when I look at it. Looking at a screenshot of your view I can say if that's how it's supposed to look and/or always looked. But right now I'm blind. :) |

Thanks! I can confirm that is how it is supposed to look. |
