Summary | 0017426: For future expansion: buildings determine your government style
Description | Something Chris said ages ago about "implicit relationships" between the player and the other factions has stuck with me for months, and it just occurred to me that the same philosophy could be applied to your citizens. A lot of 4Xs let you pick a governing style that provides certain bonuses and penalties to your capabilities and relationships with your neighbors. SBR doesn't have a government system, but it's something I'd like to see in a future version. When or if it does get government styles, it should be based on what buildings you have. I don't mean having more banks or police stations than anything else, it's about having excess financial structures or law enforcement, to the point that the society starts to change. What you build reflects your expectations and intentions. One police station per territory is one thing, an entire territory of police stations is another. I think that this could add even more depth to what Chris has been planned for events. More permutations, more unexpected consequences, more nuance to international relations and your relationship with your city.
