Summary0017680: UI Adjustments - Bring Power Back To Top UI Bar, Drop Research Back To Bottom, Misc
DescriptionI'm good with how you combined housing, food, water(somewhat), population, and jobs into one icon/popup, but power needs to not be hidden in the 'All Services' window too. It's a very important global resource in its own right given how power outages can instantly cripple things at the moment, and power production/consumption can fluctuate a bit.

So I would like to see power put back on the top UI Bar like it use to be, because not seeing what my power levels were at kept tripping me up last game.

And then bring Research back to its old spot in the bottom row.

Part of it is that I got use to research being in the bottom row of boxes, but also part of it is because it fits down there better. I don't need a reminder of what I'm researching, I picked it after all, just a turn count until its done and a button that opens up the research options UI.

It feels like that fits things down at the bottom better, with the inventory and event notices and numbers on top of those boxes, and etc.

Misc -
You said you were redoing the left GUI, so I don't know if this will still be applicable shortly, but if resolution settings allow, would it be possible to have that Race triangle put in the actual game window corner, the left GUI centered vertically, and the top GUI centered horizontally?

Having those things shoved up together in the top left corner throws the weight of the GUI off visually and positions needed information more out of the way than need be. Especially given how the bottom GUI is centered.

Oh, and a better reason for putting the research stuffs back into its old place on the bottom GUI.

The Act progress info blurb really, really needs to be shuffled off somewhere. You can use the space currently being eaten by the research info on the top bar to add in a 'x/y Objectives Accomplished' piece with a tooltip giving the expanded details of x of y citizens or whatever.

The problem with the power (one of them) was that it wasn't showing up enough to really warn you. Having it always be there is something that I think makes it become invisible. When it's remotely relevant it should show up, but if you're way out of range of needing to care about it, it should be in the nice new global overview of all your services only.

In terms of the tech having moved up to the top bar, that's there to stay; it's more natural up there I think (being similar to Civ and whatnot), and there's no room down in the bottom section where it would make sense without feeling cluttered now.

Also: knowing what tech is being researched is definitely not a given, and has come up with other players in the past a lot. Often there are long chains of techs that were selected for research, and remember where you are in the chain isn't a given.

As to your point about the goals for the current act, you are definitely right that those are terribad. ;) That's just a super temp-y way of getting the info on your screen. I have yet to fully figure out what I want to do with that, but I have a number of ideas.
