Summary | 0017770: Months lost to battle length lead to strange results
Description | The first significant action of this Invasion game was to do the Joint Bombinb Run mission. Taking the easy way out I autoresolve after a few turns (600-1000 turns of estimated combat) approximately 2 years of time. The outcomes however vary dramatically. Not the outcome of the mission, which was an autoresolved success, but what happens in the system while I'm out of action in combat. The first time I did it the Obscura were some how wiped out leading to a victory. My guess is they sent too many ships to invade another race, but I have no idea since the end of game state wasn't available. Usually the weakest race (peltians) is wiped out, sometimes with the Thoraxians taking over, sometimes the Obscura, and sometimes the Obscura take it away from the Thoraxians. Regardless of the outcome, as a player I'm frustrated because I can't do anything about it. I do a single simple mission that immediately causes a massive game shift in a direction I can't really control. Perhaps I'm not a fan of the living world experience and I want more control. Regardless it left me frustrated. In the end, the problem is how long you are out of action in combat. I think that a compromise between infinite battles in 0 units of time, and 1 battle in 3 years is 1 battle takes 1 month.
