Summary0001784: Spire mini ram usefulness
DescriptionAs detailed in one of my lengthy whine threads, I feel as if spire mini raps dont live up to their basic zenith counterpart - the autobomb.

Autobombs are faster, deliver a greater payload for your resources, and are area of effect.

I believe I calculated that rams are 1/3 as resource efficient against a single target.. and it just gets worse from there.

My recommended fix would be to cut their resource use to 1.5k per at mk1. This puts them at about 2.5x as powerful per cost as the autobomb against a single target (and tbh, how many autobombs only hit a single target?) Dropping it to 1k (4x as powerful per cost) would be nicer however..

Then, their speed. They arent particularly fast.. hell, they are slower than fighters. A speed of 28 is almost glacial for a suicide unit.. somewhere in the 50s would be nice.. autobombs are 92, for reference.
I just want them to be able to actually get to their target (in my case, probably a fortress or OMD) so they can do damage. Heavy hull is ok, and their hp doesnt look that bad, they are just *slow*

Why exactly they are one of the more expensive spire fleetships I am not sure..

I agree. These are very restricted as to what they can target, have a small ship cap and can't be repaired. They currently don't even seem to do a good job of killing guardians or starships!

With all the complaints lately about forcefield health in the hands of the AI: these are a welcome ship indeed, I should think.

* Spire Mini Rams now have a 2x bonus against structural ship types, and are now immune to force fields (they can still hit forcefields, of course). They also now have a 0.001 penalty against command grade hulls.
** Spirecraft Rams also now have the same new bonuses.
