Summary0018019: Narrative idea: dimensions and high stakes
DescriptionI'm not particularly fond of the narrative I've seen of the game so far. The end of the universe is boring because nothing is at stake -- everything is dead/dying already.

I suggest a new direction. Use the fact that it's sci-fi to explain the procedural generation and many runs. There's an alien mechanical entity that wants to take over the universe, and is attacking the multiverse. The hydra exists in all dimensions at once, and is the multiverse's only hope. You could even show images of the alien destroying the aliens from TLF. Every time the hydra dies, it loses its 'head' ie its projection into a dimension. That dimension is now doomed, but the hydra can learn from the death and do better on the next dimensions. Eventually, the hydra must defeat the alien threat and restore the multiverse.

High stakes. Each time you lose, a dimension is lost, so there's a sense of narrative loss. Each layout of the ship is different because it *is* a different ship, in a different dimension.

The intro to the game could show the ship approaching the giant ship to drop off the mech. As it goes, the screen splits, once, twice, three times, etc, showing all dimensions simultaneously. It's a different player ship (from the old assets) each time. We see many dimensions, and in each one, the ship enters the giant ship (in a few, the giant ship could fire at the player's ship, killing him -- some hydra heads didn't make it). The mech gets dropped off inside the giant ship, and the game begins.

We do have a completely new story, it's just not integrated yet. You'll like it a lot better! :)
