Summary | 0018112: Default controller sprint button
Description | After putting many hours into the game using the controller, I've never really once felt the need to use use the walk button, I always instead map run to the left trigger, it just feels way more comfortable there. I use sprint all the time, so I would suggest that the default run button should probably be mapped to the Left Trigger. You have more than enough fine control using the d-pad or analog stick without really needing to use walk. One interesting idea for the walk button, though, is to have it on the left analog stick when you only lightly press. Light analog press for walk, full press for normal speed. Worth considering, I think.

Should be good now? :) |

Almost, almost there. Actually for myself, someone who uses left D-pad and right analog stick -- **the** way to play if you ask me -- the controls are fine, however there is a problem for those that choose to use the left analog stick to move around. Having walk toggle on left analog click-in is invariably going to cause people to click it accidentally from time to time, which is probably going to annoy them until they realize they can disable it. The ultimate perfection I think would be by using the left analog stick to register a soft press as walk and a more firmer press as normal movement. For analog stick users this is luxurious, for D-pad users they have to switch to the stick to walk, but this is hardly an issue. Even if you have to switch to walk, moving your thumb over is no biggie, but D-pads already give incredibly fine control anyway, so I doubt anyone using them would even need to walk. As I say, for myself, the controls are now fantastic (although I like to set a lower axis deadzone thing setting, but that may just be me); however for those who try to use the left analog stick to move, they're going to pretty annoyed if all of a sudden their movement speed is halved (by accidental click-in) and they don't realize what's going on. |

Thanks! * On the gamepad, walk is no longer a toggle by default. That way people aren't accidentally turning it on and not knowing what is happening. |
