Did you plug those in while the game was already running? Make sure the game is not running before plugging them in, I've seen this sort of thing happen alot. |
They are plugged in before the game is running. As soon as I touch the left stick it just heads left forever. |
I tested with a 360 controller and those work fine. |

It looks like an issue with the way Windows 10 handles Xbox One controllers. The Right and Left trigger show up as Positive and Negative Gamepad Axis 3, instead of just normal buttons. So holding the right trigger actually makes me move right, releasing it sends me left.

Those triggers are indeed mapped to axes, but it shouldn't be the same ones that your left and right buttons are on. I'm on windows 10 as well without any issues. Wired controller, though; I don't have a wireless one.
Although... wait, you did say it's an xbox one controller? That's different from a 360 controller in actual practice? I don't have an xbox one controller, so that might be something I need to get. |

Incidentally, I've just bought an XBox One controller -- crazily I did not realize that was different from the 360 controller. I should be able to fix that up with this in hand. Should get here Thursday late. |

This one will get in before the final release, right? Since I sold my 360 controller and replaced it with a One, I find it important ;) |
I have a One sitting behind me in an unopened box on the floor thanks to you. ;) It will indeed get in before release. Thanks! |

From the extra research I have done, this seems to only effect Windows 10. It isn't happening on my Windows 7 box. |

Sorry about this! Here is a possible fix: http://steamcommunity.com/app/410820/discussions/0/451851477878005950/

Glad I found this -- wired xbox one controller user here, and it was driving me nuts trying to figure out what was going on and why it only affected starward rogue. Good luck getting it fixed -- until then it's mouse and keyboard for me |

In build 1.006 I can confirm my Xbox One controller works in Windows 10, without issues in game. Seems fixed now. |
Excellent! Some more fixes coming in 1.007, too. |
Wonderful! My Wireless XBox One controller is working correctly under Windows 10. Thanks! |
You bet! Sorry it took so long. |
