Summary | 0018149: Current problems with level design limitations
Description | TBH I'm having difficulty with numerous room ideas, due to a number of limitations. If these could make it in before feature freeze: - A staggering entity like the Fast and Slow switch of lasers. This would enable staggerted activation of lasers and certain enemies (like snipers). - A Switch to control environmental traps/win room. Makes designing trap rooms more challenging. E.g., I'm unable to deactivate rooms without destroying a generator, or spawn a joke enemy. - Recategorisation of enemies into appropriate spawn categories. See other issue.

Something like a disabling switch is on it's way. A computer or... something... that you attack to shut down all hazards in the room. It's optional though, the idea I came up with is that you dont HAVE to do it, but if you want to shut down a particularly dangerous room, you can spend a couple of missiles to destroy the thing. Though Chris may switch that idea up a bit, not sure. That's an optional thing though, the player doesnt HAVE to do it but obviously it makes the room in question easier. The idea of having something like that be NOT optional and necessary for completing the room was already dropped. I dont recall the exact reasons. |

We do already have the generator that Misery is referring to. In terms of a switch to turn these off without requiring missiles, it might be good at some point. I don't understand what you mean by a staggering enemy. |

When I saw the lasers, I wanted to do a couple of rooms in which the lasers would turn on one after the other in quick succession - this makes it much easier to go through a set of lasers in only one direction. So a block that says: "delay activation of lasers by 0.5 second" would be nice, but low priority. As an aside, it would also help enemies set to "always fire" since they won't shoot all at the same time anymore, but this is better done from the Entities. |

Gotcha -- that makes sense! |
