Summary | 0018830: Gamepad dead zone too small
Description | When I take my finger off the stick of my 0000003:0000003-year-old Xbox 360 controller, my gun points northeast. This makes the game unplayable with the gamepad for me. Have to go back to mouse and keyboard.

Actually, there should be settings in the options to adjust the deadzones, exactly for this type of problem. The settings should be just below the View and Edit Controls options. |

Huh, not sure how I missed that before. Yep, it's there. I might have been confused by the behavior when you let go of the right stick: 1. Walk southwest 2. Shoot northeast 3. Let go of right stick 4. You are now pointing southwest This makes it conceptually difficult to aim missiles; you have to aim missiles while firing your main weapon. Not a huge problem, but kind of annoying to have the avatar keep flipping back to its last walking direction instead of staying where I aimed it. |

Yeah, I think there was a lot of discussion about this behavior way back and in the end we decided on this aiming reset. I think people were aimining, then often forgetting where they had last aimed, potentially wasting missiles the next time they fired. This reset behaviour was deemed a bit better, and personally it seems to work for me. |
