Summary | 0018833: Grenade Launcher+Railgun module+Shot attraction breaks Grenade launcher shots
Description | Please view the video. Prior to getting the railgun module, the grenade launcher was working completely fine. Shots exploded on impact, even after attraction. However, once I picked up the railgun module the grenade launcher stopped exploding on hit. The shots were still attracted. https://youtu.be/P17bPvTjDLg

This is a bit of an odd one. What's happening is, the Railgun Module is actually adding a piercing effect to shots -- although this is never actually written in the description. For now, I think it's probably best to just remove the piercing effect, which I don't think anybody really noticed. I certainly never did. We can then save the piercing functionality for a different item at a later time. The other alternative is to simply add the piercing effect to the item description, then at least you would know what is going on with the grenade launcher. Not sure about this one, people already seem to take the railgun module without knowing that it adds piercing, so I'm not sure it really needs that extra bonus on top. Any thoughts? |

I had no idea about the piercing effect. I'm guessing the piercing effect overrides the "explode on hit" effect from the grenade launcher? Are there other ways to get piercing shots? I know a few weapon types are piercing, and I think that's a better way to do it. |
I don't think there are any other ways. I think we've shyed away from stuff like that in case of causing a screwy problem. What I'm going to attempt to do is to revamp this module a little, taking away the extra shots, but testing the piercing effect, to see if it causes any other weirdness. A module that adds the piercing effect seems pretty cool -- if you know it's there, and if it doesn't cause any problems. If it seems good, I'll keep it in. If not, I'll just remove the effect and save it for individual weapons or other more controlled items. |
Testing it with the mains: FragmentCannon doesn't pierce. Incinerator doesn't pierce either. Cluster Launcher does the same thing as grenade launcher. Blunderbuss doesn't pierce nor Splattershot. Hmmmm...not sure, seems a bit wonky. |
I think those are all weapons that use bullet_patterns instead of regular shots. |
