Any chance you also disabled waves for this AI type? |

No idea how you would disable waves. I looked in the pause screen and it said that normal and reconquest waves were enabled. I also tested a second game without the nanocaust and it worked fine... |

So you have the Nanocaust enabled. The AI seems to be choosing to send waves against the Nanocaust. Since you haven't explored the planets with the Nanocaust, you don't get any notifications. |
