Descriptiongive scientist an break by giving them deadline to complete technology advancements. don't need those fortresses quite yet but don't have knowledge to get them. why don't you gives us an deadline and we can save you spent knowledge. you can ask us to save from 0% to 90% of knowledge, only downside is you can only research one item at time per science lab. and if we have advance science labs we can work more efficient at a project and reduce time requirements by 70%. to activate click on technology with shift+ctrl Click and scroll the bar to desired deadline.

i think this give science lab more incentive to protect when you unlock them and make possible to unlock more technology at the start
