Summary | 0021642: Option to Adjust Lighting and Bloom Effects
Description | Lighting and bloom effect too intense to play for long periods. Is there any way to turn this type of thing down or off (my preference)? Most of the ships are too dark or inversely to bright due to the blooming effect being turned up too bright. This results in not being able to see the ship detail and more to the point not able to play for long periods due to eye strain. Could we have a some sort of sliders / radio / checkboxes added to the settings 'Display' menu item.

We don't have any options for it, but it should be vastly easier on the eyes now. Some of the effects like shots rely on bloom to work at all (it fakes a particle system in screen space, making the visuals seem more complex than they are; same with explosions), so turning it all the way off would be nonideal. How are things feeling with it now? You had mentioned positive thoughts elsewhere, so hopefully we're all good. |

With the exception of the lost beta shield changes or as I like to call them: "the bees knees of shields", the ship models are looking better. :) However as I have some eyesight issues that bloom effects tend to aggravate, results in not being able to play the game for as long as I'd like. Don't misunderstand, I do like the visuals, but they're getting in the way of seeing and playing the game. Any chance of even adding a bloom intensity slider in the 'Main Camera' setting section similar to what you did for the 'Galaxy Camera setting'. At the moment I have this turned all the way down to 0.4. As a guide, I've attached a screen show of the current default intensity that I'd love to be able to turn down to at least 50%. I'm guessing a monitor upgrade would help with the combination of darkness and bloom issues as my monitor settings a limited. However buying a better monitor to tweak the visual issues is a lot more dollars than I have to invest on upgrading. I raised the issue more from the perspective f accessibility, which I though a slider might help without a costly hardware upgrade -- provided that it is simple to add and doesn't require a huge amount of programming / testing to do. |
