Summary | 0022310: AI Co-Processor Rework Idea
Description | Currently AI co-processors are a mechanic wherein you trade increased AIP floor for an AIP reduction. However, major data centers already provide this mechanic and I'd argue that they provide it in a more engaging way. As such, I'd like to see co-processors changed so that they don't overlap with major data centers in their role. Here's my idea: Rather then being something you want to destroy, they are something you want to hack. Co-processor hacks debuff the AI, are very cheap in hacking points, and cause AIP to go up. If you destroy all the co-processors it causes all the AIP you've gained from hacking them to be removed. An example hack would be removing galaxy-wide planetary defense shields (effectively a 33% health reduction after the 2:1 hull:shields standardization) for 30 minutes at the cost of 10 hacking points, 10 AIP and an exo/counterattack. Design goals of this change: 1. Differentiate co-procs from MDCs in a meaningful way 2. Add a new interesting mechanic to the game that didn't previously exist (AI debuffs) 3. Make it possible to interact with co-procs before scouting all of them 4. Maintain the existing risk vs reward mechanic that forces you to think about when to destroy them
