Summary0002258: Cannot select military and non-military ships at the same time
DescriptionI am currently unable to select military ships and nonmilitary ones at the same time. neither starting with the military ones or with the nonmilitary (e.g. scout starships / transports) works.

I think this is working as expected after the 4.050 patch. Control-box selecting should get everything under the drag box. You can also control-select whatever you want via the overview on the right.

Are you talking about manually shift + clicking a SINGLE non-military unit unambiguously (aka, that ship is the only thing under or even near your cursor)? If so, then yea, that behaves a little weird in this beta. In fact, it behaves weird regardless of if the current selection contains military units or only non-military units.

Actually, drag-selecting seems to only get military ships, too. The really, REALLY crappy part is that if you select some non-military ships, and then shift-drag-select a selection that includes military ships (even if it also includes your currently selected non-military ships), the non-military ships will be deselected.

Seems that the only way to select military and non-military at the same time is by shift-clicking the ships on the Planetary Summary.

I do like that when you drag select it does not select non military units so in a crunch you can give orders only to those you need to, but I think it would also be useful to have a key that you can hold down while drag selecting that would force it to select both types at the same time.

A key to force the selection box to select military and non-military sounds like a great idea. In fact, it's such a great idea, it's already in the game.

Holding control while drag-box selecting will do this. Like normal drag selecting, this can be combined with shift to make the newly selected units add to the currently selected units.

 It would be nice if this was documented better.

Definitely +1 the documenting it better. I found out about that feature via the patch notes about it being busted.

* Fixed a bug from the last few weeks where selecting military and nonmilitary ships together was way messed up; that in turn was a result from a fix to where it was too easy to accidentally select nonmilitary stuff. It should now be back to the way it was pre-Unity-port, but please let us know if something still seems up.
