Well, ideally those units would be shooting at the wormhole to try to escape. If this particular code path is bothering you I'd need a save game to see what's going on. |

I created a couple of save games that show the current behavior of fleeing units and force fields. This can be seen on the planet Santanni, where I blocked the escape route of some enemies with a couple forcefield frigates. What i noticed is: - The behavior of the enemy ships in this situation is to shoot at the force fields while trying as hard as possible to squeeze past them. - The fleeing command seems to be irreversible, the ships will forever try to escape from that wormhole even though there's another one free right next to it. - They shoot at other enemies if they are in range but they are unable to move. It doesn't seem to cause any particular problem, it's just a weird AI behaviour. What they should ideally do is: - Attack the force field without slamming on to it, just like they do with every other enemy. - If there's another free wormhole nearby, use it if it would take less time. - Abort the flee command if they realize that it will not succeed. |
