Summary0022902: Activated allied scourge have real trouble expanding.
DescriptionSee attached save. A lot of the worlds around me have been cleared a fair bit but the allied scourge hasn't managed to expand at all. Just a couple of fortresses on the worlds next to my homeworld.
 
They made one attempt to build a new spawner on one of the AI worlds (rather than one of my safer ones for some reason) but it died to just a few AI units after I had to save it a few times as I couldn't keep watching it constantly and it never healed from the damage it took. Another armory was build on my forward world (junction) but nothing lasts long there.

How long have you had them?

There are numerous factors. There are hop restrictions for how close things like Spawners can be to each other, same for Armouries. The Builders get metal over time and it's simultaneously used for new structures and upgrading.

This just looks like really early game Scourge. The Builders are spending their metal, the armoury isn't high enough Mark for the basic Warriors to become Evolved, and they don't have enough units yet to actually start getting territory. Far as I can tell there's no problem. The Builders are also only MK2, so they're not churning out metal.

You can repair their structures incidentally.

Hmm. I think the main problem was the hop restrictions because they have been around for a fair bit. I'll remember to repair their stuff.

Allied Scourge benefit from a bit of help early on in general. They take a bit of time to get going. I've found it helps to put my Stations and defenses around the Scourge structures, and tend to follow them.

Allied scourge definitely need some babying before they get strong. They more than make up for it later though.

Noted. In the end I just sort of ignored them and beat the game. They never did do much on their own. They eventually figured out that they could put a safe spawner on one of my other worlds and that's about it. See attached save if you're interested.

Hah. The player one actually has lower values than the AI allied one because it was too strong! I've definitely had them go on a rampage.
