Summary0002337: Units shouldn't auto-attack forcefields
DescriptionGiven that AI Forcefields have a massive health buff (which I think is a bit high, but that's another story), units shouldn't attempt to auto-target forcefields. Attacking units within a field is okay.

Currently, units will auto-target forcefields directly, even when they're immune to them and could expend the attacks more effectively by hitting objects within them. In the case of forcefields being in controlled systems and out of supply, FRD units will try attacking forcefields and ignore incoming waves.

Do things that are immune to forcefields have a damage bonus against them? It seems like they should: after all, it's attacking the delicate machine in the middle, not the field itself. This would also make ff-immune critters worth aiming there.

But that does make it a little harder to clean up a system. Maybe force-fields can get a reduced priority for target acquisition, like Astro Turret Trains do.

EDIT: And yes, the current bonus HP multiplier that AI versions of force-fields get is a bit much right now. You may want to make a separate report about that.

This is one of those things that I just know would be massively unpopular; most people really don't like it when stuff becomes manually-only attacked unless there is really good reason.

For stuff that is immune to force fields, it generally should prioritize stuff that is under them, especially with some of the changes from the last few days, but if you have specific cases where that's not the case, do let us know.
