Summary | 0023853: Multiplayer Spire Feedback
Description | We have played around with the Fallen Spire. Heres stuff we noticed. Choosing who gets a spire city is unintuitive. For spire relics the owner appears to be whomever initiated the scan. For rescued relics it *seems* to be whomever destroyed the structure holding it. This is awkward. For example, our first city was built on Player A's homeworld, but player B had performed the scan. This meant we had our galactic capital permanently disabled as B did not own the system. Suggestion: The player that gives the relic the move order should get the city. The other issue we had is sharing the cities was bad, as they did not seem to rank up across our factions, so we had one player hoard them all. Other than that, having lots of fun.

Oof! This is a good example of why we need to be able to gift units (and thus entire cities) between players in MP. What do you think about it defaulting to whoever gave the order IF that planet is not owned by anyone, but to the player who owns the planet if someone does (who is a human player) And then the later feature for gifting cities should solve the rest, I hope. I'm also not sure how this works right now, but the concept of a "first city" and "second city" should be stuff that stays the same regardless of who owns them out of human players. There should not be "your first" and "his first" and "her first" in one game. |

Giving it to the planet owner would also work great, yeah. That was how we *initially* thought it would work, but realised it could be inconsistent if you build it on a non-player planet. |
|
Also Chris, for the AI-owned structures that give relics, I believe the default behaviour is "Give it to the player who killed the structure; if a player didn't kill it then it goes to the player with the most strength on the planet." The primary reason for the "player with most strength on the planet" is that's a low performance hit, and it's intended more for the case of "Player allied scourge last-hit the relic train, but the player had units there so it gets the relic" |

To my knowledge, this is as fixed as it can be for the time being. It looks like most things either resolved themselves (because they were downstream errors) or were fixed by Badger, etc. The one thing that needs to happen in the near future is gifting fleets from one player to another, which will let you shift who owns a city. But who owns a city should be irrelevant to the overall city progress, now. If you see this as not being the case, please do let us know! |
