Summary | 0023990: Forced close generation 1-2 DC
Description | One thing I noticed on rolling a number of seeds to check some DLC2 stuff and running some quick games. DC and MDCs appears only 4+ hops away from the Homeworld. In several maps I ran, this meant the first AIP reducers was on and behind high-strength worlds. For the common playstyle of "take 1 planet then just grind worlds" that works, but all my attempts to be more aggressive on 8 and 9 (and 7 with some minor factions) ran into those roadblocks. Try to get a few more planets with no 0 reduction and you get slammed by threat that make all the chokepoints around even worse. It's boring because only raiding-and-grinding seems to work. Even with Civilian Industry, I wasn't threatened (the AI didn't really send those 600+ threat at my planets, they just chill) but making progress was a slow painful grind. So I'd like to suggest forcing some Data Centers to generate close to the starting homeworld, like the first GCAs for turret must be next door. Something like 1 DCs within 2 hops and a 2nd within 3 hop, then the rest generate random as usual. Just having 20-40 AIP reductions early game would really help mid-high AIP games, otherwise you just gather what you need for low AIP... then stay low AIP because it works anyway. What do you think?
