Summary | 0024068: Out of nowhere large strength showing up
Description | So this might be linked to civil war interactions. Or maybe it's because of the Dyson. On Gigal (with the Dyson) and the planet above, in a cluster separated from the rest of the galaxy, nearly 2k strength showed up within a small amount of time. You can see the big forces in save fight 27, with the previous saves showing before that where the strength in the entire clusters was around 400 strength on 4-5 AI planets. The strength exploded, presumably after I killed the brown AI. It just makes no sense for that much strength to show up there. Most of it turned into guards except near the end they took one of my planets before I killed the green AI. Where did those thousands of strength comes from? I fought green in multiple others locations and none of them had such an absurd surge for a diff7 at 300-350 AIP. Dyson seems the likely culprit, but otherwise I don't know. Further investigations seems to reveal it's a Tsunami CPA problem. This is the rogue Badger quickstart. (Added a victory save too)

More data that comforts it's a post first AI kill issue. I killed the first AI, then little time after the blue AI throw ten of thousands Dregil Mark III all over the place (and killed me). They didn't show up from the AI Homeworld either, they would have needed to kill some of my planets before reaching my homeworlds or even others planets. I was fortunately able to isolate the moment with autosaves. At 3min8 threat is at 400, then it explodes to 1,3k threat at 3min9. Inifinite Dregil spam save show post defeat situation, way too many Dregil for it to make sense. Where are those coming from? |
More data, with a 1k CPA apparently (weird, why?) It shouldn't be throwing that strength, and it doesn't explain things. The ships don't just move, they magically appear next to my HW on an AI planet in big numbers, like from no strength and neutered to 600 strength and climbing, while the threat alledgedly remains constant. This is most definitively some weird Tsunami CPA interaction. it's probably not intended, since it creates ships out of thin air (It didn't seem to drain planets around the galaxy) who then proceed to become "guards" before attacking anyway. I assume it isn't on purpose, because it allows absurdly sized forces without caring for the player defensive depth. The calculation seems wrong too. The first CPA from red before dying was 50 strength. Even with 200 AIP and difficulty 8, Blue CPA probably shouldn't be twenty times larger. |
I've loaded all these saves. Each one has about the same amount of threat (900-1K or so). I've let several of these saves play for a few minutes without seeing anything. Also, how did you get Dregil's in a campaign that didn't have a Ragnarok AI? No sign of any bug here. |
The AI is sending waves against the Dyson Sphere. You aren't being notified because you aren't the dyson sphere. |
But aren't those waves absurdly excessive? The AI crushed the Dyson with 600 strength the first time, then kept sending more. It's completely disproportionnate. Beside aren't units sent against minor factions supposed to warp out afterward like War units? |
Waves against minor factions have never "warped out" afterwards. I note that you have heavily fortified all planets the AI might send waves at. The weakest target they can hit is Gilgal, so they're sending waves against that. I think this is the general AI wave budget. |
I specifically left economic stations to be hit and they never got that much heat thrown at them. It was post civil war that things got nastier, and I deliberately turned some planets into logistical to take waves, which they did take. There is no way that strength came from the waves budget, because I was still regularly taking waves during that time. |
Well, I can tell you I loaded save 24 and the game told me that it was sending a wave at the Dyson Sphere. |
>_> and somehow that adds up to 2k strength? That sounds insane. They camped the Dyson non-stop with 600 strength. |
I am not saying you're wrong by the way. I just find that amount of firepower being sent at the Dyson really excessive. Especially if it doesn't go down when the Dyson has no forces around. |
The wave I saw was like 80 strength. |
How does that build up to the crazy amount I saw? Because those units didn't come in by the 80 strength. They rolled in en-masse. |
