Summary0002598: I set up a command station and get control of AI builder foldouts (with their own ship caps!)
DescriptionSo, over on Matymurderul I just built a command station, and there are 5 builder foldouts belonging to "???" (but they're red, so I'm assuming they were from one of the AI players) which I can control and build from. I have no clue why they're there, since this is the first (and only) command station I've built where this has occurred.

In the meantime, however, I'm going to abuse having double caps of everything. :D

As an addendum to this, there are also 5 Home Command Station Core Mk3 and 5 Builder Foldouts on my home planet, all belonging to "???", and I can still control them all. Unfortunately I don't think I get the resources :(

Edit: if you mouse over the resource counts at the top, you can see each builder/command station is linked to a DIFFERENT ghost player. So, technically, I have access to an additional 5 caps worth of everything, with separate knowledge/resource gathering for each ghost player. Just so long as the AI doesn't start sending 6x as many waves...

It also appears that at least some of the ships that my nanoswarms reclaim are reclaimed for an ally instead of for me, even though the nanoswarms definitely belong to me.

Edit: One of the Home Command Station Cores was just blown up (experiment) and it instantly respawned.

So are the disabled slots (no player) being treated as inactive (player, but no one currently controlling it)? That's strange.

Tech: Yeah, I think so, but the game was started in single player, and those things just popped up randomly when I built the military command mk3 on Matymurderul. This captured an Attrition Emitter, an Ion Mk1, and revealed a pile of enemy Remains Rebuilders, all while I had nanoswarms FRD through that planet to another planet. When the nanoswarms started capturing the Remains Rebuilders, the Rebuilders were reclaimed as allied ships instead of mine.

Is there any kind of developer command (not cheat code, since they're not enabled in that game) that would allow me to remove the other players and their ships somehow? Suffering +80 AIP every time some random AI strike force gets anywhere near my home planet is not going to be conducive for getting anywhere fast (other than dead) in that game.

Ok, this one was caused by a highly technical phenomenon known as "Good grief Keith is an idiot" ;)

For 4.074:

* Fixed bug in recent versions where reclaiming a ship with nanoswarms could result in it being handed over to an arbitrary different player (and we mean _arbitrary_; it was using an outer loop index, i, instead of the index j that had the actual player number). This caused all manner of twilight-zone-ish behavior like reclaiming stuff on behalf of non-existent allies, having builder foldouts for those allies pop out when you build a command station, etc. Note that those "extra" phantom players won't be removed by this fix as the game-loading code has no way of knowing that those reclaimed units don't legitimately belong to the owners.
