Description | As of now, when hacking a beacon, all options are always available (like deciding the strength/allegiance of a faction at hacking time). This might be undesirable when creating specific scenarios (like quickstarts) that are intended to be played by other players as well. It might also be relevant for future multi-faction beacons where you want to exclude certain other beacon options from appearing. Here an example: you might want a situation like prior to the beacon change, where you can hack the nanocaust beacon for additional science but have to deal with the consequences of a rampaging nanocaust in a kind of tradeoff situation. However this choice is only interesting if there are no "free lunch" alternatives like an allied nanocaust option. If a scenario is just played by oneself, the other options could simply be ignored (if the player still remembers what option was intended from the start). In that case this suggestion allows for something similar to an ironman mode where you limit yourself to preset options (preventing yourself from "cheating" while still allowing for changing factions during gameplay based on player choice). If a scenario is intended to be played by others as well (e.g. in multiplayer or by sharing quickstarts with friends/online) this suggestion would ensure it plays out a similar way across campaigns. You could for example create challenging quickstarts including beacons and still have somewhat comparable results to discuss with others. I know this is probably beyond the scope of what is planned to be added at this point in time, however i think this might be a worthwhile addition for a modder if possible. | ||||
