Description | There's a lot of potential things at play here but I attached a multiplayer save of a battle against 40 dire forcefield guardians, difficulty 7 with 1.0 hacking response, doing the third hack of an ARS on the planet Dark Dragon. I understand that in this situation even if all the ships were unstacked, if they were all under each other's shields I would have to do 140 million damage to bubble shields to get a shot at their hull. Maybe I just don't have the firepower here to actually accomplish that but also I feel like with the way they keep restacking they are getting teleported back into a stack that has full shield or getting more opportunities to regen. If it is intended that dire forcefield guardians should be this powerful then ultimately the problem here is the hacking response my friend is getting. I understand that the third hack of an ARS is much much larger of a response but the strength number shown seems low for how hard these ships are to deal with. If it was any other dire guardian I feel like this would have been over easily. The reason I think this is bugged is because no matter what I set my stack limit to the ships will unstack and restack whenever they want shifting themselves around into other stacks that they weren't even in originally. It's impossible to focus fire a shield or do anything of the sort. If these ships are going to be forced to stack because of performance reasons it needs to be consistent. Either stay stacked exactly how they are or the total HP of the bubble shield needs to include all the ships in the stack and don't split it if you want it to be more realistic. Or just let us choose if we want that performance option or not. I'd even take an option to just have 2D circles for shields (basically icons) if it means I can avoid stacking like this. | ||||

I've addressed this by making hull and shield damage be preserved when units stack together. With this fix, I can kill the stack of dire guardians in several in-game minutes[1]. [1] With some judicious use of the healme chat command cheat to avoid the command station dying causing the guardians to wander off. I suspect this would not be needed with some more careful tactics. |
