Description | Okay, so: The way that the Hardened property works on stacked units right now interacts badly with aoe damage. In the attached save, we have a Siege frigate and some crupellari. If I target the stack of 8 crupellari with it, they take 25% of the health of one crupellari, 10k damage, because they're Hardened and that's their Hardened limit. But if they weren't stacked, each ship would take 10k damage, because the attack that's hitting them is 200k damage, so 25k each, reduced to 10k by Hardened. So in this instance, the Hardened is overperforming quite significantly and the stacked units are gaining a massive advantage from being stacked. (In the case of Crupellari, this then makes their riposte shot a *lot* stronger against aoe using ships.) | ||||

Had occasion to test this today and I noticed that the same issue also applies to shot compression of regular multishot weapons, hardened totally prevents the compressed shots from doing the damage they are supposed to. It will try to fire all the shots, and get hit by the cap as though they were all one shot, because that's what they are under the hood, but that's not how it should be working. |
