Description | When playing as the Necromancer faction, when the tractor beam is equipped as a module on a necrofleet flagship: The tractor beam will keep the enemy ships just out of range of the flagship, resulting in the flagship chasing down the ships it has ensnared. If it has no weapons with enough range to deal damage, it could potentially put itself in an endless chasing loop if a player is not paying attention. Not bad enough to be a game killer, but if caught unawares, a player could take damage that could have been otherwise avoided. | ||||

Additional information: the ships that are caught will be pushed no further than the asteroid belt, which will allow the flagship to eventually close in to its shortest firing range. On that note, I will say that the flagship explicitly tries to get into maximum firing range for its weapon with the shortest firing range. |

This was discussed quite a bit as far back as Necromancer testing. Basically the only way to make it not happen would be to not have any weapons that are not longer range than the tractors, which would put severe limitations on what kind of weaponry/assets are available for anything that has modules. It's essentially part of the 'cost of doing business' to have modules with the variety of options available that are currently in the game. |
