Summary0028146: Greater Spire Fortress seems to be able to fire all its beams at one target.
DescriptionSee attached save where a flenser is about to be finished off by spire defences. The defences (mainly the greater fortress) get through 300 million health in about 9 in game seconds on my machine.

It seems to die too fast given the fortresses stats (also attached in an image), even with the support of the military command and other defences.

I think the fortress is firing all its beams at a single target, which part of the description says it shouldn't be able to do ("only 1 can be fired per target and stack"). All the beams still appear visually as a single thick beam so I'm not sure (this may be a bug too?).

Either the "only 1 can be fired per target and stack" section of the description is wrong and should be removed or the weapon is able to do more than it should.

Sooo this is a bad wording of that tooltip line "only 1 can be fired per target and stack" or perhaps just obsolete. I have edited it to read differently for formatted tooltips.

But basically .. if it has only one target and that target is a single ship (not a stack), then it should only be able to be the target of a single beam -- and the other 4 of the salvo are wasted or at least target other squads.
But if it is a stack of 5 ships it CAN be the target of all 5 beams.

Separately and misleadingly though, the beams which target the same stack do not appear as individual shots/beams, but are rather logically performed as a single shot/beam that hits multiple times.
So its really quite difficult to tell what is happening by only looking.

I myself have to use DpsHud in cases like this to determine if something is actually going wrong or not. And to be fair/honest I have not tried doing so yet for your save, but if you believe its more than what I have described above going on, let me know and i can do so.

Actually though I don't fully understand if its the beam on the fortress, or the one on the flenser which is the focus here. Because the one on the flenser is going to be the one responsible for the fortress's death, right?
