Summary | 0028567: Shelter guards/militia
Description | I'm housing, feeding, and providing the other daily needs for thousands of people. Some of them are presumably fit enough for combat. A militia could function similarly to bulk androids (but weaker) and consist of either volunteers gained via a deal or conscripts. Alternatively, shelter guards could be abstracted to the point where they don't appear on the map and residential buildings themselves will attack hostiles who wander too close or target nearby buildings. Short range and relatively weak is probably the way to go for this, but not to the point they're entirely worthless. If the lore doesn't support the population being armed already, you might to run a short project chain to begin manufacturing/purchasing/stealing guns suitable for humans, and maybe even provide some basic training.

Agree this would be nice, I had a similar thought that something like this would be possible during the furniture acquiring part of Chapter 1, where you can encourage your sheltered humans to loot the warehouse even if you aren't protecting them. Pitting humans against humans is fun, especially if you're doing it as a kind of populist AI demagogue (a fun and novel concept!) |
