Summary | 0028710: Combat UI filter doesn't filter out building info
Description | When in the Combat UI filter mode from the mode wheel, I expect to have only things relevant to combat showing up - namely my units, enemy units, combat lines, damage previews etc. However, any buildings complaining about stuff, like storage or being stunned and probably more, also show up - and they show up in orange, making it pretty hard to see where enemies who are shooting your buildings are because the buildings are loudly complaining about being shot at. That's fine in general view, but in combat view I don't care about the buildings being stunned, I just want the units please. See attached screenshot for an example of a building complaining about storage full when there's an enemy unit sitting on it, and how difficult it is to at a glance identify what's going on.

I don't think this is a good idea. People can leave their filters on whatever they want, and often will for very long stretches of time. Critical information about buildings that are having problems, etc, punches through and shows in any view. Otherwise people would have to constantly switch views to see if they have some problems at any buildings. |
Perhaps instead a hotkey to hide those things, so you can actively limit it to *just* combatants (or whatever filter you are on) but you have to hold the button and when you release it, things go back to showing these other critical items like complaining buildings? This would allow a player to focus on the specific thing they're doing without risking losing the information you want to ensure they receive, since it would require a deliberate ongoing action to hide those extraneous items. |
All those buildings will still show up in the list of buildings with problems in the top bar. Perhaps combat view could make them less bright orange then, so they don't obscure the information combat view is intending to show as much? |
Same applies to map view's Forces filter as well. It's otherwise a really nice clear view of a battlespace |
Just as a heads up -- I happened to see these notes, but if folks add notes to closed or fixed issues, those are often invisible to me. If you want to surface something back my direction, be sure to reopen it. |
