Summary | 0002889: Desync - 5.0 - Saves Attached
Description | Attached are two save files for a two-player multiplayer session desynced in 5.000. Tried restarting both client and server to no avail. This was an Autosave, created created almost simultaneously with me (the server) quitting the game. P.S.- Any chance of salvaging this game? Our previous save file was 2 hours prior. Cheers!

So, if you: 1) Both make sure AI War is completely closed, and start it fresh. 2) Without starting any single-player games, one of you loads the game, and the other joins. You immediately get a desync? |
|
Correct. Except the desync appears 1-2 seconds after the client joins. (Elaboration: We both quit AI War, re-opened the game, and I [the host] loaded the multiplayer save file. When I load the game, it says "Waiting for Players..." like usual until the other player joins. Once he joins, we get 1-2 seconds of play time before the Desync error appears. At this point, we both saved copies of the game, which I've uploaded.) If it's helpful for me to upload the "original" autosave, let me know. |
|
Do you also have the desync log file that got logged in RuntimeData? That would be helpful, too. I just loaded up the server copy of the save, and it ran fine without any desyncs. So unfortunately I can't reproduce this yet -- is there anything in particular that you two are doing right after load that might be causing it? Are you issuing orders on the host before the client joins, for instance? Anything that you can tell us to help us reproduce would be awesome, because I doubt we can fix this without being able to reproduce it. Any information about the operating systems, etc, that the two of you are using would also be helpful. I should also note that I loaded this in 5.001, not 5.000, so maybe this was somehow fixed in the new version. You might try seeing if you are able to duplicate the issue in 5.001. |

We both updated to 5.001 and stopped getting the desync error. Nice. Thanks for your help, both. If you'd like to investigate this further, I'm happy to submit more info. |

Huh, we didn't think we were fixing any desyncs :) But if it works, that' the immediate concern. If you run into any other desyncs please do let us know. |
