Summary0002917: Game does not launch from STEAM, but does launch directly from AIWar.exe
DescriptionBefore tonight I was able to launch the game from both STEAM and directly from the .exe at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ai war fleet command\AIWar.exe" Tonight when I try launching it in STEAM it continually hangs at "Gameinit (5 - 2/22/2011 8:11:42)" I rebooted the machine and it was still happening. I used the "verify integrity of game cache" option in STEAM and it found 5 files and re-downloaded them but it still wouldn't start. Starting via the shortcut I see the game reverted to version 5.000 so the files weren't really corrupt...STEAM was just seeing the beta 5.002 files. I've attached the output_log.txt if that helps.

Are there any error messages logged in the RuntimeData folder? At the moment there's nothing to indicate what the trouble would be.

No, I don't see any error message files in the RuntimeData folder.

Hmmm, then the game isn't actually crashing, but something outside it is interfering with it, it sounds like. Are you running Kaspersky by any chance?

Nope, not Kaspersky but I figured out what it was. D3doverrider, a program which forces vsync and triple buffering for games that don't do it themselves. I only used it for the DCS:Black Shark flight sim but have had issues with a few other games. I didn't really think to check it though since the game started fine from the .exe

Once I added AIwar.exe to it's exclude list for vsync and triple buffering, the game started fine in STEAM. Weird, sorry for the false alarm :)

Sweet! I'm just glad you found out what it was. And frankly, now we have yet another data point for people to check if someone else runs into a similar problem in the future. So thanks for letting us know what it was!
