Summary | 0003126: Exogalactic Strike Forces confused by Black Hole Machines
Description | Exogalactic Strike Forces (and LotS event waves) seem to get badly confused by Black Hole Machines. Generally, they don't make a concerted effort to destroy the machine to bypass the system, though the moment it is destroyed and they can leave, they will all immediately return to chasing down the strike force's initial target. Specifically, in the savefile, there is a single group lead by a Spirecraft Implosion Artillery, which, upon entering the system, flew to the next wormhole, seemed to realize it was stuck, and then proceeded to sit there as the Spirecraft took potshots at turrets. Some fleet ships wobble back and forth between helping out and sitting next to the Spirecraft. Starships did the same thing, but loading the save seems to cause them to be broken from the group (they lose their speed bonus). This behavior might be partially a result of the Implosion Artillery having a much longer-range attack than any of its escort ships, and so they aren't willing to leave its vicinity to attack, but nonetheless results in a group of units that is trivial to pick apart with snipers. Other behavior, not exhibited in the save, is that groups will simply spread out upon entering the system and attack pseudo-random targets as if they were a normal wave. Again, if the Black Hole Machine is destroyed, they will immediately head to the exit of the system, even if they were currently working on something else (like the nigh-invulnerable Planetary Armor Booster).
