Description | I scouted the AI homeworld and suddenly have >1000 threat, turned out they were cockroaches from the guard post. They quickly went and attacked my nearby planets. | ||||

The cockroaches pop out if anything fires on it or I believe if anything gets too close, so it's possible you just got too close. |

I understand thats probably why it happened, but I thought scouts are never supposed to aggravate/free AI ships |

They're usually not, this might be a special case or bug. I would think the same logic would apply for things like Neinzul Cluster Bombers or Viral Clusters, but I've never had a problem with those triggering on scouts. |

Yeah, and it takes a bit of time for the post to 'reload', so you can use this to your advantage as the lifespan of a cockroach is 4 minutes :) |

As cloaking is supposed to hide a ships position, any proximity triggered stuff should not be triggered by cloaked ships getting near it, unless of course those ships were decloaked when they were near it. The only exception are things that are specifically designed to counter cloaked ships when they get close, but there are very, very few of those outside of tachyon beam emitters. |

All core guard posts have tachyon. A scout got revealed, and the post "attacked" by releasing its cockroaches. Makes sense to me, as long as they stay on the defensive. |

The reason I reported it is that they did not, they became free (I had huge threat as I said above) I thought it followed from what I said about the threat that they came and attacked me right away, so I'll add that to the report |

I believe that's what they're supposed to do. Once released, they're not guards, they're on Search and Destroy mode IIRC. Used to be a nightmare when they had reclaim... |
