Summary0003984: [Mac] Windstorm performance is really bad
DescriptionSo I'm (using the Win save) in a windstorm.

Graphics are really choppy until I turn all 3 windstorm options off.

Especially choppy in windowed (2500x1500) mode, but still persists in fullscreen (2560x1600) mode although not quite as bad.

This is the most recent MBP 15" with the AMD graphics on (gfxCardStatus FTW):

This is why we provide those options. I suspect that it's really the dynamic skies causing the lag, not the rain -- if you turn that down from 7 to 4, that ought to solve most of it.

I guess my point is that you might want to use different/lower defaults on the Mac than Windows.

Well, it's one of those things that is going to vary by the hardware -- extremely much. It's nothing inherent to the Mac, it's just a matter of the graphics card in question at the time. And there are so many of those that I don't want to get into trying to predict what options to use by default on a given one, etc.

I guess the point of my suggestion is... I have the top-of-the-line production Mac laptop graphics card, and the settings are too high by default, so thought that might suggest a lowering of the default.

No matter. Most indie gamers know about graphics options. :)
