Summary0005674: Allow AIs to have fortified-force fields
DescriptionGiven the discussion on the role of armour in the game, we can introduce more default things on the AI-side with high armour to make the choice of armour-piercing-units and polarizers more appealing.

So, if the AI also had access to the fortified-FFs that humans already do... I think a good starting test would be, say 30% chance for a force-field to be fortified.

Question: how does an vanilla human with no bonus-ships deal with a hardened-FF?

Vanilla humans deal with hardened Force Fields just fine. We'd deal 20% damage, but Hardened Force Fields have only 25% of the health of a normal one. So without max armor piercing, the effective health of a hardened Force Field is 25% stronger than a normal Force Field. In real numbers, a normal Force Field is 20 million health, a Hardened Force Field is effectively 25 million (but 5 million in reality).

Don't Raid starships have a decent armor piercing rating?

If so, then that, on top of their structural bonus, would also make a nifty way to help take out hardened FFs

Yes they do. They wreck Hardened Force Fields. It should take a cap of Raid Is something like 12 seconds to destroy a Hardened Force Field by themselves.
