You actually have a number of options for things like that:

1. Miniature spell.
2. Lesser or greater teleport.
3. Transmogrify into bat.
4. Powerslide (though that is super risky because you probably can't get back through).

This sort of passage should only be showing up in attics and basements, which it looks like you are in -- so all is well!

Well, we could do that... but why not let them figure it out themselves?

One thing I hate in Skyward Sword is that they give me a traditional Zelda puzzle -- great. But then they just keep blabbing, and before the dialogue even ends they have told me what to freaking do. This is the first Zelda game to give the solutions to problems before you even have a chance to try the puzzle, and it's something that they do repeatedly throughout that game.

For us, here, in the interest of training new players to understand the world at all we have to tell them certain things. And in fact we _want_ to, of course. It's a big world, and we don't want folks confused.

But somewhere, there is a line, and I think this falls on the other side of that line.

That's a fair point. I totally agree. I hate it when every single puzzle and point is shown off first.

I'm just afraid it looks more like an error in the level generation than an interesting part of the exploration game.

No one would create a building that has passages too small to go through, while still having doors and cardboard boxes on the other side.

If the ceiling above the 1 high passageways looked like rubble, it would automatically become intentional. Now, it's up to the player to maybe figure out a way through (or just turn around) instead of making nasty comments about how the room generator creates impossible structures.

Could be, but the rubble tends to look odd if it's not all or nothing, many times.

My feeling is that whole sections of the house (or whatever building) have kind of collapsed down in sections, leading to these too-small passages. At any rate, I don't think it's worth much time at the moment.

Haha -- well, likely in the timeline of a video of his he wouldn't even encounter a procedural room like that. And he already has a great fondness for Arcen and AI War, so that helps, but it's still not any sort of "in" for him to definitely like our next thing.
